Thredbo ski resort was first established in 1957 in the heart of the snowy mountains and is an ideal year-round getaway. Bushwalking, mountain biking and conquering Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko is all available during summer.
While in winter there is a mountain of trails to be discovered and some great boarding terrain to be found. Add to that the village atmosphere of Thredbo and you’ve got the perfect mountain escape.
Thredbo offers the highest lifted point in Australia (the top of Karels T-bar at 2037 metres), the greatest vertical rise at 672 metres and the longest runs (the longest is 5.9 kilometres from the top of Karels T-bar to Friday Flat). Its 480 hectares of skiable terrain is divided between 16% beginner, 67% intermediate and 17% advanced. Snowmaking covers 25% of the resort.
Thredbo also boasts Australia’s highest Golf Course, restaurant, the AIS accredited altitude training facility and the Cannonball Run 4.2km downhill mountain bike track (accessed by the chairlift).
The top of the Kosciuszko Express chair is the closest access point to Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko, 6 kilometres walk away.
The ski school prides itself on its innovative approach, including children’s and women’s programs. Thredbo also offers child-care facilities for the very young, freeing parents to spend time together on the slopes.

About our lodge
Koomerang Ski Clubs’ Thredbo Lodge is located in the Thredbo Alpine Village in the Kosciusko National Park.
With recently completed extensive renovations in June 2005, the lodge was originally constructed by Koomerang in 1965, our two-storey Thredbo lodge offers accommodation for 16 people in eight rooms with two beds and four bathrooms (each servicing two bedrooms). All bathrooms are brand new and fitted with cubicle showers and toilets. There is a fully equipped and brand new kitchen and large living and meals area with an open fireplace. There is a drying room and ski storage room.
The newly renovated and furnished attractive living and dining area is open and has large windows while new under-floor heating ensures that the lodge remains comfortably warm, with the open fire adding to the atmosphere.
As with all Koomerang lodges, blankets and pillows are provided but members and guests must bring their own pillowcases and sheets, towels and toiletries.
Cleaning products are provided as well as tea, coffee and some basic supplies, but members and guests must supply all other catering needs. There is a good supermarket in the Village Centre, as well as a bakery, bottle shop, chemist and other services. Jindabyne, about 40 minutes away, has a full range of shopping and services.
Location
Jack Adams Path. This a walking path not a road. If you look at the Village map on the Thredbo website, Koomerang is the 3rd building from Brindle Bull on ythe uphill side of the path, between Happy Wanderers and Berghutte. Walk up the left hand side of the lodge (looking uphill) and go in the second door.
You can get to the Valley Terminal either by walking down Jack Adams Path turning down past The Denman or by catching the free shuttle bus (Bus Route 2) from the bus stop on Banjo Drive at the entrance to Lantern Apartments. You can walk uphill past the back of Berghutte and under Latern to get to the bus stop. There is often a wait for the bus so you may want to walk down in the morning and get the bus back in the afternoon. Note: you can download a map of the bus routes from the Thredbo website.
Parking and getting to the lodge
From Terrace Diggings, drive up Buckwong Place then Brindle Bull and stop as close to the start of Jack Adams Path. The road is narrow and the car parking spaces are not for public use. If perople are leaving when you arrive, you may have to move your car to let them out. Carry your luggage along the Path to the lodge. Then you need to back down Brindle Bull then to Friday Drive. You may find an available parking space near the Village Green but you will probably have to drive to Friday Flat where there are three car parks. You can then either walk back or catch the free shuttle bus to the stop near the Village Square.
The Village
Thredbo is one of Australia’s highest towns at 1365 meters above sea level. Its character and atmosphere are outstanding amongst Australia’s alpine resorts and it centres on the Village Square with its shops, restaurants and the Thredbo Alpine Hotel, a few minutes walk from Koomerang. The village offers great nightlife in bars, restaurants and the Alpine Hotel.
Thredbo is particularly proud of its year-round attractions and of being a real town with many full-time residents. Supporting this are the development of a respected and impressive summer events calendar and the recent construction of the community centre and chapel. Summer events ensure that there is always something to do in Thredbo, along with summer sports facilities such as the golf course, tennis courts and the Leisure Centre, and direct access to the magnificent Kosciuszko National Park.
National Park Entry Fee
Thredbo is in the Kozciuszko National Park and motor vehicle entry fees are charged by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to enter Kosciuszko National Park.
- Annual passes (only) can be purchased online https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/passes-and-fees.
- Day and multiday park entry passes can be purchased in-person at the NPWS vehicle entry stations, and the Thredbo Visitor Centre.
- It is usually more reasonable to buy an annual pass if your trip is 7+ days.
If driving from Victoria via the Alpine Way, you may be able to purchase a pass at the National Parks Visitors Centre in Khancoban, Thredbo Newsagency or the Thredbo Sports shop. Note: while there is an Entrance Station on the Alpine Way when driving from Jindabyne, there is no station between Thredbo and Khancoban.
